Trends Taking Colorado

Let’s talk food trends. Quite honestly it seems that food trends change as often as fashion, and that’s not a stretch. Every time you turn on the news or browse Pinterest you see something you haven’t before, or something that may be the new “hot” foods.

So, what’s trending around the great state of Colorado these days. Take a look!

Ultimate Burgers: There are so many places offering burgers these days like Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar (Northglenn, CO) or Crave Real Burgers (Denver, CO), the only difference is, most of the burgers are not your regular American cheeseburgers. Not that that’s so bad either. You can now literally get any kind of burger in the world, okay, almost literally. You have so many options; pulled pork, ham, bacon, chorizo sausage, breaded pork, tempura, grilled pineapple, shredded lamb, buffalo, green chili, the list goes on! Maybe some of you have a sweet tooth, well not to worry, you can get a donut burger. That’s right, a Donut. Burger. Don’t want to mix breakfast with dinner? Not to worry, just ask for some peanut butter on yours for extra sweetness.

Pho [fuh]: We’ve all driven buy one of these places and gone, “What the Pho?” Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, rice noodles called Banh Pho, herbs, and meat. The first time I had pho I had no idea what it was or what the heck I was doing. I stared at the menu, completely at a loss of what to do. Luckily for me, I brought an expert with me. She gave the waiter our order and before I knew it a giant bowl of pho was sitting in front of me, noodles, chicken, and delicious broth. They offer you jalapeños, hot sauce, and herbs. My friend insisted I use the hot sauce and jalapeños and considering I’m a spice junky, I took her word for it. It. Was. Ah-mazing. It was the best comfort food on a cold winter night, its what you’ll crave every time you get so much as a tickle in the back of your throat. Do yourself a favor and go get Pho.

Street Food: What a market this has become. Street food used to be considered hotdog stands, food carts, or just basic fast food. Now the industry on this has completely exploded. Food trucks are everywhere with fresh new foods that draw you in by sight and smell. They are now one of the biggest trends around. You can get pretty much anything you want as long as the resources are available to you. You can find falafel’s, burritos, gyros, crepes, doughnuts, waffles, tacos, macaroni and cheese, basically anything you’re craving. Word to the wise, if you’re dieting… well, stop, and enjoy these amazing foods.

Farm to Table: This is a wonderful movement that gives people the opportunity to eat food that hasn’t been altered beyond recognition. The world is excited and looking forward to every place that starts to offer farm-to-table food. There are restaurants that are opening all over Denver and North metro that offer this specifically such as, Modern Market (Broomfield, CO), First Watch (Northglenn, CO) , Old Major (Denver, CO), The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm (Fort Collins, CO), and a slew of other tasty farm-to-table restaurants. If you haven’t had a chance to try this new trend, the next time you go out, give a try.

Superfoods: We’ve all heard this term and it seems to be talked about more and more each day. Superfoods are certain items that supply certain healthy vitamins and minerals, they can also be a source of antioxidants, substances that help shield our bodies from disease and cell damage. These foods are things such as blueberries, salmon, cocoa powder, acai, Greek yogurt, quinoa, oatmeal, green tea, and the list could go on and on. More and more these foods are being used in trendy restaurants to grab peoples attention and it’s working. They are even becoming easier to find in your local grocery store.

There’s no shortage of great food out there, are there certain trends that you love? We’d love to hear. Have a favorite restaurant? Submit them to our site!
